The basics

What is Plyb TV?

Plyb TV is screen and TV management and security software: from a single web dashboard you switch on, switch off, secure, schedule and publish content across your whole fleet of screens, whichever site they're at.

On compatible screens it also protects the device itself: it locks the remote, USB ports and menus, keeps firmware and certificates up to date, and changes and automatically rotates the admin PIN and web panel password of every screen. It's designed for organisations with screens spread across many locations (hospitals, airports, care homes, public administrations, large companies), it's installed on their own servers (on-premise) and it's developed by Plyb, a Spanish business software company.

What is Plyb, and how is it related to Plyb TV?

Plyb is the company; Plyb TV is its first product. Plyb is a Spanish company that develops software for businesses and large organisations, and Plyb TV is the screen management and security platform it has built.

About Plyb

Is Plyb TV digital signage or device management?

It is, above all, device management and security, with digital signage included in the same dashboard. Most tools on the market pick one: either a signage CMS that publishes content but doesn't control the device, or a console that switches screens on and off but doesn't decide what they show.

In Plyb TV a screen's record includes its status, its security, its schedules, its permissions and the content it shows. There are no two inventories to reconcile and no two licenses to pay for the same screen.

Compatibility

I have consumer LG TVs and LG Signage displays. Can I manage them all with the same software?

Yes: both LG lines are managed from the same Plyb TV dashboard, though with different reach on each. On LG WebOS Signage professional displays control is complete: power on, power off, volume, input, brightness, rotation, language, NTP time, schedules and device security (locks, firmware, certificates, PIN and web panel password).

On consumer LG WebOS TVs control is direct but shorter: it goes as far as the TV itself allows from outside (power on, power off, volume, input switching and showing content), and powering on over the network needs Wake-on-LAN enabled.

Does it work with screens that aren't LG: Samsung, Philips or Sony?

Not yet. During the beta, Plyb TV manages LG WebOS Signage displays and LG TVs running WebOS, and we've already started developing other brands.

The order of the next integrations is set by the organisations in the beta: if you have a Samsung, Philips or Sony fleet and want to try Plyb TV, tell us which models and how many screens you have and we'll prioritise it.

Request support for your brand

Can a TV really be switched on and off remotely?

Yes, as long as the screen is on a network that allows waking it up: power-off is sent directly, and power-on uses Wake-on-LAN, which has to be enabled both on the TV and on the network equipment.

It's one of the differences from cloud platforms: on many of them, “off” puts the screen in standby or just turns off the picture, and the device stays on. Plyb TV is installed on your network and talks directly to each screen, which besides being more secure allows full control.

And when you send the command to a whole group, Plyb TV confirms the result screen by screen instead of saying “sent”. It's the difference between knowing that 14 of 15 screens switched on and hearing from a user that the fifteenth was still off.

Versus the alternatives

How is it different from the cloud platforms offered by the screen manufacturer itself?

In two ways, mainly. The manufacturer's platform ties you to its brand: the day you buy screens from another, you change tools too. And cloud platforms that manage several brands at once tend to heavily limit the commands they can run on each screen.

Plyb TV is installed on your servers and fully controls compatible screens, without going through a third party's cloud. It fits best when the organisation's data can't leave its network, when consumer TVs coexist with professional displays, or when per-site permissions and security on the screens themselves are needed.

How the on-premise installation works

Which digital signage software should I choose if my data can't go to an external cloud?

You need an on-premise platform, and that's exactly where Plyb TV fits: the application, database and content files are installed on your organisation's infrastructure, with a single network entry point. The only thing that goes out is license validation, always from your server to Plyb's.

Most digital signage tools on the market are SaaS: content, screen inventory and usage logs live on a third party's servers. If you work in healthcare, public administration or any sector with data sovereignty requirements, that's usually the question that decides the purchase, before features.

What happens if I switch screen brands in two years?

You keep using the same software. Plyb TV isn't tied to a manufacturer: as we integrate new brands, you manage them from the same dashboard, with the same content, groups, schedules and permissions.

That's the difference from manufacturers' official platforms, which only manage their own fleet: the day the organisation buys another brand, it ends up with two tools and two inventories.

See what's controlled on each range

If a screen breaks and I replace it, do I need to buy another license?

No. Licenses are per screen: you remove the broken one from the dashboard and redeem that same license on the new one, even if it's a different compatible range.

The new screen joins the same group and keeps showing the same content, with the same schedules. Nobody has to reconfigure it by hand.

How many screens before software like this is worth it?

When you can no longer walk to them. With five screens in one building, a remote and a little patience are enough; the problem appears when there are several sites, or when the person who has to change something isn't where the screen is.

The other threshold is people and security: as soon as more than one team touches the screens, you need to know who can do what, what was changed, and that nobody can tamper with them from the device itself. That's where a spreadsheet and a WhatsApp group stop working.

Installation and security

Is Plyb TV in the cloud or installed on my servers?

It's installed on your organisation's servers. It isn't a third-party cloud service: the application, database and content live on your own infrastructure, with your corporate directory (LDAP) or with local users.

The only thing that goes out to the internet is license validation, which your server performs against Plyb's; our server never initiates a connection to yours. Everything is managed from the browser, so nothing has to be installed on the computers of the people who use it.

On-premise, in detail

What does Plyb TV do for the security of the screens themselves?

On LG Signage professional displays it locks the remote, USB ports, menus, network settings and screen sharing, updates the firmware and self-signed certificates, and changes the admin PIN and web panel password of every screen from the dashboard.

For organisations that have to meet device security requirements, that PIN and password rotate automatically at whatever interval you set, on models that support it.

Screen security

What happens if the server stops responding?

Screens keep showing the last thing you published: content doesn't suddenly disappear while the service recovers.

What does need the server available is management: while it's down you can't send new commands or change schedules. If your case requires surviving the loss of an entire machine, there's a configuration ready for that; we'll show it in the demo with your real topology.

Can I give one site access without opening up the whole screen network?

Yes: permissions are granted per screen, per group or per site, with edit or read-only access, and each person sees only what concerns them.

Identity comes from your corporate directory via LDAP, where everyone signs in with their usual credentials, or from the platform's own local users. You choose one of the two at installation; they can't be combined today.

Permissions, LDAP and history

Is there a record of who changed what?

Yes: every action is logged with the person, date and result, and the history can be viewed from the dashboard and exported to PDF.

A limit worth knowing before buying: it's a searchable, exportable action history, not a digitally signed audit or storage certified as tamper-proof. If your organisation needs that specific guarantee, it needs to be discussed beforehand.

053 questions

Content, languages and pricing

What can be shown on the screens?

Images, GIFs, video, a web page, a carousel and a text ticker, combined into a template that you assign from the dashboard to one screen, a group or all of them at once, whether LG Signage or LG WebOS TVs.

The change applies instantly, without restarting the screen or travelling to it, and the same template can be scheduled to appear and disappear on its own at set times.

See the content editor

Which languages is the platform available in?

The interface is available in 10 languages, and the language is chosen per user, not per installation.

On LG Signage professional displays the device's own language can also be changed remotely, something not available on consumer TVs.

How much does Plyb TV cost and how do I get it?

Plyb TV is in private beta and access is by request: scope is agreed case by case, depending on how many screens and sites there are and which integrations are needed. Licenses are per screen.

The practical step is to count how many screens you have, which models and across how many sites; with that we prepare a demo on your real case instead of a generic presentation.
